Luddite I am

This is how much of a luddite I am. The batteries in the camera are finito and I don't know how to change them. This is why I haven't posted in such a long while.
Since my last posting I finished one of the waving lace socks altered using my fav heel and cheater toe. This is such a wonderful pattern. It was beautiful in the magazine and if possible even more beautiful knit up and on. I guess you'll have to take my word for it;-) I also finished the last incarnation of the Maltese flag. I made a small goof but very livable.
I have also been fixated on Fixation, the cotton yarn from Cascade. I am obssesedly working on Rob from Threadbear's pattern Broadripple Sock from Knitty. I have put everything else down for this. I love this stuff.
I'll search my pics and find something pretty to put up. I might be something old but what the heck it's still an fo.

Maltese flag for the Paxe project-Paci means peace in Maltese-My father's parents were from Malta and for my 10th anniversary my husband took me there. I got to see the house where my grandmother grew up and meet one of her sisters. 

The great kool-aid experiment 

No Longer Chicken

I love kool-aid dying! I dyed about half of my columbia top in blues and greens. I'm going to try to do the rest in purples and blues. I can't wait for this stuff to dry. I had a great article in one of my mags about dying yarn and how to get the results you like by Laura Bryant but in my enthusiasm of cleaning as we moved I believe I threw it out. Woe is me!

Last night my spinning teacher gave me some Bonkers acrylic to spin. It was shocking to me.I NEVER would have thought I'd like acrylic. I loved it! It was like spinning gold. I have 64 yds of this gorgeous hand-dyed gold/multi and I have decided to do a beaded bracelet with it. My only problem is setting the twist with acrylic. Never done it no clue!
My spinning teacher also gifted me with a pound of white columbia top. It is the first sheep that was introduced to North America I believe. I'm going to try dying probably with kool aid, least scary first time. I bought some clear squeeze bottles for this. Updates coming soon!

Peacock feathers 

No time!!

It seems like I have no time lately. We had a garage sale which I hate doing and the kids are finishing up the school year. Both the boys are going to the school system's summer camp after school's out. It is so cool! They get 45 min. each of athletics, astronomy, nature studies and art class Mon. through fri. for two weeks.
I have picked up an old project. I have started Peacock feathers shawl twice. I'm going to try again. I'm using Lisa Souza's Moriah laceweight in the color south pacific. I also decided to add green beads. It is very twenties, art nouveau. The deep colors and stylized peacock feathers. I hope this doesn't become an abandoned wip again because I love this pattern. I think this third time will be a charm!
I've also gotten around the heel of my first waving lace sock. I am promising myself to start my flag this week too. I feel extemely guilty for not even starting it. It must get done.
